How Melody helped Livres Hebdo with its new graphic and organizational strategy

Results and benefits

  • Autonomy of the technical and editorial teams

  • Reduction of closure's time

Livres Hebdo, the only magazine about the world of books

Livres Hebdo is a French weekly magazine published by Electre S.A., a subsidiary of the Cercle de la Librairie. It is intended for book professionals, mainly booksellers, publishers and librarians, and is today the only professional magazine on the book world in France.

At the beginning of 2018, Livres Hebdo wants a new look: new logo, layout change, but also complete modification of the production and editorial management system. It is for the latter that Livres Hebdo called upon Melody.

I am happy to work with Melody, because I feel that it is a tool with great potential that meets our expectations. We have no regrets [about choosing Melody] and we are working seriously and optimistically to adapt Melody to our needs.

The Challenge: more performance

Livres Hebdo wanted, through a single system for print and web, make production more efficient while saving money.

→ Single system for print and web
→ Optimization of production flows
→ Freedom from hardware and content management constraints

The implementation of our CMS at Livre Hebdo

Livres Hebdo called upon the Melody team for several reasons. Indeed, in addition to the interesting cost, the functionalities in advance on our competitors largely convinced the teams of Livres hebdo. They particularly underlined their interest for the adaptability of Melody to answer their manufacturing particularities and its ergonomics. The same is true for the bi-directional link between InDesign and Melody, the ease of transposing paper articles to the web and the visualization of each person's work in the model.

This confidence in Demain Un Autre Jour reinforces their ambition to work together, and this thanks to the clear involvement of the teams and their support throughout the collaboration they witnessed during the project.

The implementation of Melody within Livres Hebdo after signature was quite fast: about 6 months. It started with an analysis of the needs and particularities of Livres Hebdo and its organization, before the integration of the new charter in the application. The last step was the interfacing with the web provider. During this implementation, our teams had to add new functions to the software base without rethinking the foundations of Melody.

They loved:

After two months of production of Livres Hebdo through Melody, the magazine is produced every week, right on time.

  • Editorial and technical teams are becoming more and more autonomous and each user has direct access to their content without any time or location constraints.
  • The two respective teams are now in a phase of reflection to optimize the product and its use by users and we are all convinced that with the experience and the optimization of the structural elements which is to come, the time of completion will be reduced as it is mostly the case for our other customers.
